SANGUEM: The Sanguem Municipal Council issued fresh reminder notices to the people involved in discharging sewage water into municipal drains and Sanguem River.
Earlier last month, the Sanguem Municipal Council led by Chief Officer Pramod Dessai and other staff had conducted site inspection of several houses at Dattawadi and Muslimwada and also the business establishments in the town area involved in releasing waste and sewage water into the municipal drains and Sanguem River.
Due to the release of waste water into the drains, foul smell was emanating from the water drain in the municipal area while those using the river water had complained of rashes and irritation all over the body.
Following the site inspection, the municipal officials had warned several residents from Dattawadi and Muslimwada who were found discharging sewage water directly into Sanguem river to stop forthwith the release of sewage water into the River.
However, even after having sent the notices, many citizens are reported to have continued with the practice of releasing sewage water into the drains and Sanguem River.
Therefore, the municipality has now issued a fresh reminder to those concerned to act into the matter immediately failing which desired action including that of disconnecting electricity and water supply will be taken, informed municipal sources.
