DODAMARG: Snake catcher Rahul Niralgi from Dodamarg was arrested by Sawantwadi Forest Department for illegally keeping a rare king cobra as a pet.
The accused was working with the NGO Sarp India which rescues reptiles. He was keeping a close watch on the rare snake in the Palye area for the last couple of days.
It is compulsory to inform Forest Department before catching a king cobra and the accused had kept the snake with him despite knowing the legal formalities.
