The BJP in Goa appears to be interestingly preparing to ensure that it does not get less than 12 seats. While the magic number for those who want a complete majority is 21, why is the figure just reversed for the BJP? Is it getting help from somewhere?
So, has the BJP reduced its ambitions? Not really. What one needs to ask is if the BJP is looking for political ‘hands’ to resurrect it.
If it looks at many constituencies in Bardez and Tiswadi at least it is clear that in many constituencies the hand has been placed only to do well and become a force to resurrect the BJP, including the latest decision taken in Poriem. That is why political observers in Goa are not looking so much at what will happen before the elections as much as what will happen after that. Will the new political ringmaster of Bardez and the veteran manipulator of Salcete, be the power centers who will “hand” the BJP the seats it many want to bridge the deficit of seats that they will have and resurrect it from the edge of defeat and lift it to the heights of victory?
The hidden hand of resurrection is getting more and more visible. It will soon be the helping hand all will see.
