PORVORIM: In a shocking incident, a woman from Mormugao constituency was declared dead by the Social Welfare Dept and her Griha Aadhar allowance was stopped after three months due to an erroneous survey. Mormugao Ruling MLA Sankalp Amonkar raised this issue during Question Hour on Thursday.
He also said that many cases which were marked to the committee were pending for five years. Social welfare Minister Vishwajit Rane apologised, saying that the 135 cases will be cleared and a one-time relaxation for cases would be given. Earlier, there was a cap on Griha Aadhar he informed the house.
Many ruling and opposition MLAs said that cases in their constituencies were also pending
Ruling MLA Nilesh Cabral, Opposition MLA Venzy Viegas also said that hundreds of cases under Griha Aadhar and Laadli Laxmi were pending in their constituencies. Vishwajit assured that under the one time relaxation benefits will be extended to all constituency cases.
