Sodaxo takes over food supply at GMC

PANJIM: The government, in tied up with Sodaxo, has introduced therapeutic and hygienic food in the Goa Medical College.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane launched the food services to GMC patients on Thursday.
On the occasion, Rane told the reporters that at the initial stage Sodaxo, a health services company, would provide food to all the 1,500 patients in the hospital while in the second phase, it would take over all the canteen and supplies to the hostels.
“We have inked a tie up with the Sodaxo with an annual estimated cost of Rs 16 crore. The decision was taken after frequent complaints of poor food being supplied to the patients,” he said adding, “Each patient will be provided food depending on requirement of his treatment. There will not be uniform food served to the patients,” Rane said. The government hitherto was spending around Rs 14 crore annually on food.
