SIOLIM: Sodiem Siolim villagers have raised objection to illegal hill cutting in survey number 247 and 247/5 of Maina vaddo.
Villagers highlighted that hill cutting is underway for last 10 days which took a toll of over hundreds of fruit bearing and other forest trees.
Villagers said that they have filed an complaint with the village panchayat, Town and Country Planning, Dy Collector Bardez as well as Forest Department but in vain.
Villagers said that this particular forest area is habitat for various birds and animals, migratory birds and even the leopard due to its thick green covering of trees and plants that have grown over the years on the hill slopes of the property.
Villagers alleged that the said destruction is happening in connivance with the panchayat who is allegedly blessing all these illegalities.
