PONDA: Fire broke out at a sofa manufacturing unit named Fancy Steel Industries at Usgao, in the wee hours of Saturday and Ponda fire personnel rushed to the site and doused off the flames.
Officials pegged the loss at around Rs 20 lakh and suspect a short circuit to be the cause behind the incident. Some workers noticed the fire at around 4.30 am on Saturday, and immediately rushed with buckets full of water to douse off the flames from spreading and as they were unable to do so, the fire officials from Ponda were called to help.
