PANJIM: A solution may be in sight to the grievances of the 108 Emergency Services staff, who are on an indefinite strike, following intervention of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and his meeting with Union representative Hridaynath Shirodkar, GVK EMRI representative and Health Minister Francis D’Souza on Tuesday to resolve the issue. The meeting will continue on Wednesday.
Earlier during the day, GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro along with a group of supporters joined the protesting employees and demanded regularization of the service provider that is managing the emergency service.
Faleiro joined the protestors and offered his support saying he would do everything within his power to help them. “The demands are not so big, so the government should pass them,” he said.
Meanwhile, GVK have confirmed that 15 of the protesting employees have reported for duty. “Majority of the striking employees want to join back, but are being threatened by a few disruptive elements,” they claimed.
GVK added that they were confident that normalcy would be restored with most of the employees due to resume work soon. Currently the services are being operated by trained paramedics from neighbouring States due to the employees strike.
