Solution for mining after February 13: BJP

PANJIM: Even as the mining dependents are hopeful of BJP national president making an announcement on the mining issue during his visit to Goa on Saturday, the party’s State president feels a solution may come only after February 13.
BJP State Unit president Vinay Tendulkar, addressing the media, said that the mining issue will be resolved as the Prime Minister has taken note of it.
“But I cannot tell you when exactly it would be solved.  We met PM and discussed our problem,” he said. However, he said, since the opposition Congress was not letting Parliament function smoothly it may be delayed.
“We briefed him about it. But for the Bill to come, Parliament has to function. PM has said opposition is not allowing the Parliament to function. He has said that he will work out the solution for it,” he added.
When pointed out that the mining dependents have given a deadline of February 13, failing which they would work against the BJP candidates in the Lok Sabha polls, Tendulkar replied, “I cannot comment on that. Also February 13 is just 4-5days away. I feel the solution will come but after February 13.”
When asked about the statement of Union Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar that no amendments to the Act would be made to restart Goa mining, Tendulkar said, “I don’t think that statement was linked to Goa mining.”
