PORVORIM: Cutting across party lines, MLAs on Wednesday called on the State government to solve the Sonsoddo leachate issue before the onset of monsoon.
Replying to a calling attention notice tabled by Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the old legacy waste dump site is dry and there was no leachate generated or flowing from the dump.
Regarding regular dumping of waste along the road side from Sonsoddo to Curtorim, the Minister said that stretch is cleaned periodically, however the indiscriminate dumping of waste by the locals is witnessed on regular basis and it goes on unabated.
