CURCHOREM: Some of the establishments/units in Curchorem resumed their operations on Monday after nearly three weeks of the ongoing nationwide lockdown.

Though most establishments in Curchorem and Sanvordem markets remained shut, medical stores, ATMs, petrol pumps and shops selling essential commodities, private clinics, welders, cycles dealers, steel, stationary, electronic appliances repairers, two-wheeler spare parts dealers etc, were opened.
Nationalised banks, co-operative banks, post and other government offices including Curchorem municipality and Sanvordem panchayat functioned normally. Some government employees travelled in Kadamba buses while some came with their vehicles.
“We only allowed our customers to deposit and withdraw money from their personal account and did not provide any other facilities including sanctioning of loans,” said a co-operative bank manager.
According to Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Chief Officer Ajay Gaude, the public has been asked to do correspondence via e-mail including applications for particular certificates.
“I have requested the public not to visit our office but instead to do correspondence via e-mail where we would reply to them. Even for urgent certificates people can apply through e-mail and pay online or via card swipe machine at our office for which certain time will be allotted,” Gaude informed.
Treasurer of Kakoda Industry Association at Industrial Estate Pravina Mendonca informed that some industries on Monday commenced operations as per guidelines after obtaining necessary permission from competent government authority.
