Some visit churches, temples praying for election victory

VASCO/PONDA: On Friday, a day before the judgement day, a couple of candidates visited churches and temples praying for their election victory.
Mormugao BJP candidate Milind Naik woke up at 4 am and visited a temple outside Goa to offer prayers. While NCP from Vasco candidate Jose Philip D’Souza and his supporters visited a church as well as a temple in the town prayers and seek blessings of almighty for victory.
Meanwhile, prominent candidates who contested the February 4 Assembly elections are confident of their victory with most of them even planning for grand rallies post results in their respective constituencies on Saturday.
Milind Naik returned home after offering prayers in a temple outside Goa at around 3 pm. After refreshing himself quickly, Naik discussed poll results with his supporters who were waiting for him till then.
All his supporters were pretty confident that Naik would hit a hat trick this time and would become minister again. His supporters are planning for a grand victory rally after results are formally announced.
Meanwhile, Congress candidate Sankalp Amonkar was busy meeting his supporters in his office at Baina since 9 am in the morning. Amonkar’s supporters were also very much confident of his debut in the State assembly and were thus planning for a grand victory rally followed by celebration on Saturday evening. In the midst of the discussion, Amonkar received a call from Congress office and he immediately rushed to Panjim, leaving his supporters to work out the celebrations. 
Unlike other candidates, BJP’s Vasco candidate Carlos Almeida has decided not to increase his heartbeats by taking tension of results that would be declared on Saturday. However, he is pretty confident of his victory and BJP forming the next government. On Friday morning, Almeida held a meeting with his close supporters in his office at 10 am to finalise the list of supporters and agents who would accompany him to counting venue.  After the candidate left for some personal work, his close supporters who want to give a surprise to Almeida started planning for post results victory rally. 
Vasco NCP candidate Jose Philip D’Souza too feels that he would come back as a legislator and thus his supporters have already planned for a victory rally.
On Friday, D’Souza along with his key supporters visited a church as well as temple in Vasco to offer prayers and to seek blessings of almighty for victory. 
Vasco Congress candidate Saifulla Khan and Independent candidate Krishna alias Daji Salkar are also confident about their debut in State assembly. Supporters from both these camps have planned victory celebrations in unique way so that they can even thank people while holding victory rally. “People wanted change and a leader who can address their issues as well as take up developmental works. I am confident that people have voted for me and for progress of Goa,” Khan said.
In Dabolim, the BJP candidate Mauvin Godinho is planning for a spontaneous celebration after he wins the election.
On the other hand, MGP’s candidate Premanand alias Babu Nanoskar is 200 percent confident of his victory and thus his supporters have planned for a grand rally on Saturday after results. 
Cortalim Congress candidate Gilbert Mariano Rodrigues says that he doesn’t want to be overconfident, but has a strong feeling that he would win the elections.
Independent candidate Anthon Vas and his supporters are confident that Vas would be elected and would even be given a berth in the next government. 
In Ponda taluka, MGP supremo and Marcaim candidate Sudin Dhavalikar is confident of his victory and forming government with support local parties. His supporters are one hundred percent sure of Sudin’s victory. His supporter Damu Kavlekar said, “We are preparing to take out rally at 11 am tomorrow, however Sudin will not join the rally due to restriction of code of conduct.”
In Priol, Sudin’s brother Deepak Dhavalikar’s supporters are excited and are preparing for a victory rally. Deepak is confident of his victory and hopes to win the Priol seat by a margin of 3000 votes. 
Deepak’s BJP rival Govind Gavde said that he was confident that he would win the election by a comfortable margin.
Sitting Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar and his supporters are confident of a comfortable victory for the second time. 
Independent candidate Rajesh Verenkar said that he was confident of his victory. His supporters are excited and are planning to celebrate his victory.
Ponda BJP candidate Sunil Desai and his supporters believe that the developmental works carried out by the government will give them victory.
Meanwhile, former chief minister Ravi Naik hopes to settle scores with Lavoo Mamledar by winning the Ponda seat, which he lost to Lavoo in the 2012 election. Ravi Naik’s supporters are planning for a victory rally after the results are announced.
In Shiroda, Subash Shirodkar and his supporters are seen relaxed and confident of victory.
Industries Minister Mahadev Naik believes that the developmental works that he has carried out in Shiroda would give him the seat by a margin of 3000 votes.
MGP Shiroda Candidate Abay Prabu too hopes to win the seat and his supporters too are planning to hold a victory rally.
