Sonali Phogat case to be handed over to the CBI: Goa CM Sawant

The Goa Chief Minister on Monday said that the case pertaining to the death of Tiktok star and Haryana BJP leader Sonali Phogat will be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation after continuous demand from the citizens of Haryana and the family of Sonali Phogat as well. Sawant stated that he would personally write to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to transfer the case to the CBI.

“The investigation conducted by the Goa police is right on track and they have found many clues. I have full confidence in the Goa Police. The case is almost near completion. But considering the continuous demands made by the public, as well as Sonali Phogat’s daughter we have decided to hand over the case to the CBI”, claimed CM Sawant.
Phogat (43), a former Tiktok star and BJP leader was brought dead to a hospital in North Goa district on August 23, a day after her arrival in the coastal state. Phogat’s associates Sukhwinder Singh & Sudhir Sangwan were arrested in the last week of August. Anjuna Beach Shack “Curlies” owner Edwin Nunes, where the BJP leader and her aides had partied on the intervening night of August 22 and 23 was also arrested. Drug peddlers Dattaprasad Gaonkar and Ramakant Mandrekar were arrested in connection with the case for allegedly supplying drugs.
Phogat was administered methamphetamine, and some leftover drug was recovered from the Curlies’ washroom, the police had earlier stated.
