Mapusa: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court Mapusa on Friday transferred the Sonali Phogat murder case to the Sessions Court for further hearing and the matter is now fixed for hearing on December 30.
Meanwhile, the two accused Sukhwinder Singh and Sudhir Sangwan who had earlier filed an application before the Court seeking a copy of CCTV footage, as it was not given to them by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have now withdrawn the application.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in its about 500-page chargesheet in Sonali Phogat’s murder case reportedly mentions that the actor and Haryana BJP leader was forced to take drugs by her associate Sukhwinder Singh and personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan hours before her death on August 23.
It may be recalled that on the fateful day, the CCTV footage showed the deceased Phogat staggering out of the Curlies restaurant at the Anjuna beach and was being helped by her associates.
She was then taken to the St Anthony’s Hospital next morning where she was declared dead due to heart attack. However, post mortem report showed that there were multiple injuries on her body. The CCTV footage from the restaurant also revealed that one of the accused tried to force a drink down Phogat’s throat which was later alleged to be spiked with a party drug.
The Goa police had initially claimed that Sonali had died of a heart attack but later when her family charged it was a planned murder by her aides with a motive to grab her property, the story took new twists and turns and then registered as murder.
