EDM organisers owe State police ` 1 crore each for security provided

PANJIM: Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festivals – Supersonic and Sunburn – held annually along the coastal belt, owe the State police around Rs 1 crore each, for security during the event since 2014, the State Legislative Assembly was told on Tuesday.
The reply tabled on the floor of the House by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar revealed that the organizers of Supersonic are yet to make a payment of Rs 1.10 crore and Sunburn of Rs 92.83 lakh to the State police for security provided.
The question on the outstanding amounts by the EDM organisers was raised by Congress MLA Digambar Kamat. Responding to the question, Parsekar tabled various communications between the police and the festival organizers asking them to clear the bills.
Sunburn is held at Vagator and Supersonic at Candolim, both in North Goa in the last week of December every year.
