BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police arrested a 27-year-old resident of Sonshi, one Vasudev Srikant Samant for allegedly assaulting his aunt, 60-year-old Nirmala Prakash Samant from Baye Surla over a property dispute which later resulted in her death.
On November 6, the accused along with other family members had gone to their ancestral house where Nirmala was staying. There was a verbal spat between Nirmala and Vasudev over property issue and in a fit of anger Vasudev assaulted Nirmala with a wooden stick causing her serious injuries.
She was admitted to Sanquelim CHC and later shifted to GMC, Bambolim in a critical condition. However, with Nirmala succumbing to her injuries while undergoing treatment at GMC on Wednesday, the police also booked a murder case against Vasudev. He was later remanded to five days police custody.
