MARGAO: It was ugly site at Amrutnagar as the residents were on Monday morning greeted by the garbage flowing all the way from the Sonsoddo plant to their area following continuous downpour on Sunday night.
However, the Margao Municipal Council workers, who took up the challenge, cleared the mess along the roadside within half-an-hour, informed acting chairperson Tito Cardoso. Apparently, only four labourers were engaged in clearing the waste, as they collected nearly half a truckload of waste comprising mostly plastic.
“The continuous rains clogged the drains due to which the water overflowed and took some of the plastic waste with it,” Tito added.
