MARGAO: Manuel Barretto, Chief Officer of the Margao Municipal Council has ordered an inquiry against a worker deployed at the Sonsoddo dump yard, for
allegedly damaging documents belonging to the civic body.
Barretto has instructed his officer to verify the facts in respect of the allegations made by councillor Mahesh Amonkar pertaining to the Sonsoddo work site. “A preliminary enquiry shall be conducted in the matter and a detailed report on all the facts as alleged in the complaint shall be submitted to the undersigned on or before February 3,” said the order.
Councillor Amonkar in his complaint has alleged that the said worker at Sonsoddo was engaged in bringing in some outside vehicles and selling plastic and other items from the Sonsoddo garbage yard.
Further, he alleged that the said worker was involved in tearing the pages of the register at the Sonsoddo dump site, presumably to cover his tracks.
“How can a worker do such a thing by violating the municipality rules? I have obtained all the required evidence against the worker,” he added.
