MARGAO: Exactly a week after transportation of mud from the Sonsodo waste dumping site came to an abrupt halt, hopes were raised over the resumption of the work of transportation as well as on the sanitary landfill site following a joint meeting convened by the Director of Municipal Administration Elvis Gomes.
After marathon discussions at a meeting brokered by the DMA, it was decided that the MMC Chief Officer will forward request of Fomento Green for police protection to the District Magistrate, South with a request to consider Fomento’s request for protection to enable resumption of work at the site. In this connection, Chief Officer Deepali Naik told Herald that she has written a letter to the District Magistrate, N D Agrawal to provide police protection to Fomento Green.
Both the Council and Fomento Green agreed that in terms of the decision taken by the High Powered Committee headed by the Chief Minister, mud excavated from the Sonsodo site can be used for the Nuvem bypass.
