Amidst their ongoing custody disagreement, Sophie Turner and
Joe Jonas have reached a temporary agreement regarding the custody of their two
daughters, Willa and a 14-month-old daughter, referred to as “D.” in
court filings. According to court
documents filed in New York, both parents have consented to keeping their
children in the Southern and Eastern districts of New York, which encompass
areas such as New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley.
The court order prohibits the removal of their children from
these jurisdictions pending further court decisions. If this order is violated,
the court has the authority to take appropriate measures under federal or state
law to safeguard the children’s well-being or prevent their removal before the
case is resolved.
This development follows Sophie Turner’s recent lawsuit
against Joe Jonas, in which she accused him of wrongfully retaining their
daughters by withholding their passports and preventing them from returning to
England. Turner claimed that they had previously agreed to make England their
“forever home” during discussions held over Christmas in 2022 as they
prepared for the future.
In response, Joe Jonas issued a statement countering
Turner’s claims, stating that he initiated divorce proceedings in Florida and
that Sophie was aware of his intention to file for divorce. He mentioned that
the Florida court had already issued an order restricting both parents from
relocating the children. Jonas also noted that they had a cordial meeting in
New York, where it seemed they were working towards an amicable co-parenting
arrangement. However, shortly after this meeting, Sophie expressed her desire
to permanently take the children to the UK and requested their passports for
immediate travel.
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas married in 2019 but announced
their separation after four years of marriage. Their current custody dispute
appears to be an ongoing and complex issue.
