MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority has deferred finalisation of the bidder for the sopo tax collection in the wholesale fish market.
The matter figured at the Tuesday meeting of the SGPDA, wherein members scrutinised the bids placed before the meeting by the member secretary. Since the members found certain discrepancies in some of the bids, it was decided to continue with the scrutiny process. In the meantime, the PDA has decided that the existing sopo contractor would continue with the work of sopo collection pending finalisation of the new contractor by the PDA.
When contacted, PDA Member Secretary Vinod Kumar said that the PDA will take some time to scrutinise the bids after the members raised some queries regarding some bids. “Nothing is finalised yet. Presently, we are still in the process of scrutinising the bids. Pending the verification and scrutiny of the bids, the existing sopo contractor will continue the work of sopo collection from the wholesale fish market”, Kumar stated.
Meanwhile, the SGPDA has deferred decision on a number of construction projects, seeking development permissions. PDA member, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai told the media that he has asked the PDA to defer decision on certain housing projects, to ascertain whether they have complied with the required building norms, especially on the parking front.
