CANACONA: A bonanza awaits registered societies in the State, with the government planning to give sops in the form of salaries of a clerk and peon, besides a computer and office expenses of Rs 2,000 per month.
This was informed by Sports Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.
“The State government will provide a clerk and peon, a computer and monthly office expenses of Rs 2000 to set up an office of any well-established society,” Tawadkar said.
When asked to clarify the meaning of a “well-established society”, Tawadkar explained that those societies which cater to a large number of people, such as fishermen and farmers, would be included in the scheme.
Tawadkar, however, added that clubs, groups and other smaller associations would not be entitled to the scheme.
“A proposal has already been finalised and is expected to be passed shortly,” he added.
