South Goa MP Slams CM Sawant Over Mirabag Protest Detentions

MP Viriato Fernandes launched a scathing attack on Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, declaring him unfit for office after Sawant labeled four Mirabag protesters as “terrorists” for disrupting the Assembly session over the controversial Zuari River Bandara project. “CM Sawant doesn’t deserve to be CM,” Fernandes said. “He must apologize to the four individuals and their families for silencing their democratic voice.”

The four people, detained March 6 from the visitors’ gallery for shouting slogans, were transferred to Porvorim Police Station for inquiry. In solidarity, Mirabag demonstrators who were detained at Lohia Maidan over lack of permission for protesting peacefully and then taken to the Margao Police Station, vowed an indefinite sit-in until their comrades’ release.
