MARGAO: South Goa police have released a list of 104 history-sheeters including municipal councillors and social workers of the district.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Goa Police V Renganathan had visited the South Goa police headquarters in June and held a meeting of all police officials.
He sought details of all history-sheeters and ordered strict action against them. Margao Police Station has the highest number of history-sheeters at 22, followed by Vasco (16), Verna (11), Maina-Curtorim, Colva and Cuncolim (10 each). Canacona has three, Quepem has five, Mormugao has two, and Sanguem and Curchorem have one each.
South Goa SP Shekhar Prabhudessai informed that police would be keeping an eye on the movements and income off all the criminals. Zakaris Rodrigues, the Guru Pujari murder-accused who escaped the clutches of police, has been named in the list along with Vasco Municipal Councillor Saifullah Khan. Three of the listed criminals are dead.
People who have more than three cases registered against them and are a nuisance to society are classified as history-sheet criminals.
