MARGAO: South Goa reported nine murder cases in 2023, and in a noteworthy achievement, the police have successfully solved each case. The data indicates a proactive and efficient response from the police in bringing the offenders to justice.
The distribution of these cases reveals that two murders occurred in the jurisdiction of the Maina Curtorim Police Station. Colva, Fatorda, Quepem, Vasco, Ponda, Mardol, and Collem Police Stations each reported one murder.
Additionally, South Goa witnessed nine cases of attempted murder in the same period, all of which were successfully detected by the police. Maina Curtorim and Fatorda Police Stations reported two cases each, while Colva, Cuncolim, Quepem, Verna, and Ponda Police Stations reported one case each.
Comparatively, the figures indicate a decline in both murders and attempted murders from the previous year. In 2022, South Goa recorded 25 murders, with 23 cases successfully resolved by the police. The corresponding figures for attempted murders were seven cases in 2022, compared to 18 in 2021.
