Southwest Monsoon likely to hit the state in the next 2-3 days

IMD has predicted moderate rainfall, ranging between 2-6cms in 24 hours, over Goa with increased spatial distribution in the coming two-three days.

PANJIM: With conditions being favorable, the Southwest Monsoon is likely to onset over Goa in the next two-three days.  

The monsoon had reached the Kerala coast on May 29. On Tuesday, it reached Karwar, the southern border of Goa. 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa observatory in charge Rahul said that conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Karnataka, Konkan, and Goa in next two three days. 

Last year, the monsoon had onset over Goa on June 5. 

Rahul said that Southwest Monsoon has advanced over some more parts of the central Arabian Sea, some parts of Karnataka, entire Kerala, some more parts of Tamil Nadu, the entire southeast Bay of Bengal, some more parts of southwest Bay of Bengal, most parts of east-central Bay of Bengal, some parts of west-central and northeast Bay of Bengal. 

It will further advance into some more parts of Tamil Nadu, remaining parts of southwest Bay of Bengal, some more parts of west-central Bay of Bengal, northeast Bay of Bengal, northeastern states, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next two-three days.
