VASCO: Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Bossuet Silva sets an example of Good Samaritan by going out of his way and helping a mid-aged two wheeler rider, who met with an accident and sustained head injury at the Zuari Bridge on Monday morning.
The incident grabbed attention of many netizens, after Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira posted about the incident on social media narrating the entire incident and the altruistic work which the SP Silva has done by saving the life of an accident victim.
Later, when contacted SP Silva, he said that while he was on his way to his office at Zuari Bridge, he noticed that a two wheeler overtook his car and other cars in the lane, despite it is forbidden to overtake over a bridge. The mid-aged two wheeler rider noticed that a car was approaching from the other side. He applied breaks and fell.
Silva further added “After noticing that the rider has sustained some injury on his head, I halted my car and reached to the rider, took him aside and immediately called Agassaim police and ambulance. The ambulance reached the spot almost in 40 minutes. I waited at the spot and also tried to clear the traffic congestion on the bridge. Later I also advised the rider not to overtake on bridge and wear helmet which unfortunately he was not wearing at the time of accident.”
“I would like to request all the people to follow traffic rules and take all safety measures such as wearing helmets, seat belts etc to avoid such accidents. I feel it is also our duty as a human being to help others who are in need,” said Silva.
