SP South directs DySP to probe complaint against PI

MARGAO: Superintendent of Police South Arvind Gawas has directed Deputy Superintendent of Police Serafin Dias to investigate the complaint lodged by Nihal Faleiro against Police Inspector Kapil Nayak.
In his complaint, Nihal who is an advocate practicing green farming at Green Amaze has accused Kapil of being extremely rude and arrogant and further said that a false complaint has been lodged against him of having assaulted police.
Nihal said he along with three other friends were seating casually in an open space behind his house and having beer when suddenly a police van arrived at the scene and two police personnel who were in civil clothes approached him.
He said PI Kapil asked him to throw away his beer can to which he said he would throw it in his dustbin at home nearby. However, he said Kapil got very arrogant and began abusing him and took the beer can away which fell on the ground thereby littering the place.
When Nihal said he wanted to call his father, Kapil along with the other police personnel allegedly dragged him to the police jeep and took him to the Fatorda Police Station where he was beaten up with lathis on his neck and was abused with filthy language.
Nihal, who was released on bail at around noon the next day, got himself medically examined at Hospicio Hospital which stated that he had bruises at various places including his arm and neck.
Nihal pointed out that the police personnel were in civil dress and besides did not inform him under what charges he was being arrested which is illegal and hence complained to the SP as he wanted to take up this matter seriously since his name has been tarnished unnecessarily.
“I live a peaceful life in my property and have never had any problems with the police and for being a good citizen it is ironic that I get treated this way with a false case being registered against me,” said Nihal while disclosing that the lady official who was present disclosed that Kapil always speaks in the abusive manner as that was a requirement of their job.
