MARGAO: Superintendent of Police, (SP) South Arvind Gawas has issued an advisory to the organisers of the 142 community Ganesh celebrations in South Goa providing guidelines, which are to be followed at the venue, during the procession and during immersion.
They have been advised to install adequate CCTV cameras with night vision and data storage capacity of minimum 15 days besides employing security guards to be on guard round the clock. The guards should be wearing uniforms and must be hired from registered security agencies only.
The volunteers having an identity card should be present at the venue and every visitor should be made to go through the Door Frame Metal Detector and entry to the venue should be reduced to the minimum while providing also an emergency exit.
Besides, ensuring that the whole venue is properly illuminated, the police have also advised the organizers to trim all shrubbery and bushes around the mandal and also ensure that all the fire and electrical hazards are checked and certified by the concerned departments.
While asking the organisers to provide fire extinguishers and fire fighting material they have also been told to ensure that bursting of crackers and fireworks are done away from the mandal. They have also been asked to obtain the required NOC or permission from concerned departments for loud speakers and closing of the road.
At the time of the procession, they are directed to avoid blocking of vehicular traffic and avoid bursting fire crackers on the road where traffic is moving. While asking them to keep the decibel limit of sound at permissible limits, the organisers are also advised to avoid simultaneous processions by two or more organisations to avoid clashes.
The organisers are advised to have proper illumination at the place where the idol is planned to be immersed and allow only the identified persons to enter the water for immersion and also avoid immersions during late hours.
