SPCA adjourns hearing in Merces double murder

PANJIM: The State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA) Friday adjourned the hearing in the Merces double murder case to October 3. 
Five police officials including DySP Umesh Gaonkar and PI Devendra Gad are accused of dereliction of duty in the case, which led to the second killing of the wife and attempted murder.  
In their respective replies on August 14, the officials claimed that one of the victims did not inform them about the murder despite inquiry. They also said prompt action was taken after a journalist tipped them off.
 that a person was assaulted and allegedly buried at Merces.  
Two persons Osban Fernandes and Ramesh Bhagwe are in judicial custody for allegedly murdering labourer Shivaji Nayak, his wife Sujata and attempting to kill their minor children.
