MARGAO: The State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA) has decided to further proceed with the complaint against police officials of Margao and Maina-Curtorim filed by a Sao Jose de Areal resident Menino Fernandes alleging that the police had failed to register FIRs upon his complaints.
The SPCA, however, has dropped the proceedings against Margao Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Mohan Naik saying there was no case against the DySP. “As far as other respondents Maina-Curtorim PI Gurudas Kadam, Margao PI Sudesh Naik, PSI Deo and ASI Rohidas Velip are concerned, the matter shall proceed on two aspects. One regarding the failure of Margao PI Sudesh Naik to register the FIR on presentation of the complaint by complainant Menino Fernandes and the other regarding the complaint filed by the daughter of the complainant of trespass and alleged outrage of her modesty,” the SPCA stated.
The SPCA has also issued notice to ASI of Maina-Curtorim police station, Rohidas Velip, with a direction to produce the case diary in relation of the FIR 70 and 72 of 2013 after it was disclosed that the case papers of the matter are in his custody.
Menino contended before the SPCA that the Maina-Curtorim police had failed to register FIRs after he filed two complaints with the police on May 6 and later on May 26, 2013 against anti-social elements who pelted stones on his bungalow. He further stated that the police had failed to register FIR based on a complaint lodged by his daughter under Section 509 of the IPC.
