Speaker appeals to MLAs including CM to undergo COVID test

Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar has appealed to all the legislators including Chief Minister to voluntarily go for corona test to avoid possible spread.

The appeal comes after BJP MLA, his wife and two children tested positive for COVID-19. As per reports, the MLA had held joint meeting with Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and nine other legislators, last week.

Speaking to media persons, Patnekar said it is my appeal to all the MLAs, including Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers to get themselves voluntarily tested for the virus, to ensure safety and avoid possible spread.

“MLAs are elected representatives of the people. As such, they have to be on ground to help their voters. Several people approach them for some or the other help. Under such circumstances, wherein they interact with various people, it is better to get tested,” he said.

Also, Patnekar said MLAs rush to site, where COVID cases are detected.
