Says that the Opposition needs to work towards being a constructive Opposition

PANJIM: Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Tuesday expressed complete displeasure over the manner in which the Opposition boycotted the training and orientation workshop organised for all the legislators.

The legislators from Congress, AamAadmi Party (AAP), Goa Forward Party(GFP) and Revolutionary Goans boycotted the session protesting against the Goa Legislative Department’s move to hold it in a city-based five-star hotel, rather than conducting it within the Goa Legislative Assembly Complex, Porvorim and for engaging Rambhau MhalgiPrabodhini, which according to them is RSS affiliated.

“It was sad to see that the Opposition boycotting the sessions. The effort was to train both Opposition and ruling MLAs on the functioning of the Assembly and its rules and procedure,” he said adding ‘that the Opposition missed a big opportunity.

He said that the Opposition needs to work towards being a constructive Opposition.

He said that Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini has several experts from various fields and has been holding sessions to train MPs, MLAs and councillors across India.

Speaker was addressing the valedictory function of the workshop organised by the Goa Legislative Department.

On a lighter note, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant requested the Legislative Department to hold another training session for the Opposition MLAs in September-October within the Assembly complex premises as they have a problem attending it in the hotels.
