Special court remands IDC field managers to judicial custody

PANJIM: The special court under the Prevention of Corruption Act refused to extend police custody of the two Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) field managers Gaurish Malvankar and Ajit Gaunekar, who were arrested in a raid by Anti-Corruption Branch last week, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh.
The court remanded them to judicial custody with the order on Malvankar’s bail application to be pronounced on Tuesday. Malvankar is Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s brother-in-law.
According to ACB, the duo had demanded a bribe from one Sanjay Kumawat, who had applied for an industrial plot at Tuem Industrial Estate to set up a unit manufacturing ayurvedic medicines.
