Special section for local films at IFFI victory for Goa: GFP

MARGAO: “The decision to have a special section to screen Goan films in Konkani and Marathi, besides screening the national award winning film “Amori” in the Indian Panaroma section at the International Film Festival of India is a victory for Goa and Goenkarponn,” said Goa Forward Party (GFP) spokesperson Prashant Naik.
Briefing media persons, he pointed out that initially there was no scope at all for Goan films in IFFI even though the festival is being held in Goa and was brought to Goa to promote film production in the State.
He reminded that the GFP had threatened to organise demonstrations against this keeping Goan films out during the festival itself. “The decision to screen Amori and have special section for Konkani films is a result of the threat to demonstrate,” he said.
