CALANGUTE: The Special Squad set up on the recommendation of the Police Inspector Calangute raided five of the illegally operated massage parlours and sealed the premises.
In an attempt to curb the illegal massages, touting and soliciting to the tourist, Calangute Police had appealed to the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bardez and local Village Panchayat to join hands in order to curb illicit activities.

Police Inspector of Calangute Police Station Nolasco Raposo earlier this month had written a note to SDM Bardez requesting the latter to constitute a Special Squad to tackle the illegal spas and massage parlours which are mushrooming in Calangute.
Based on the direction of the Deputy Collector Mapusa, the Mamlatdar has constituted the squad which will now keep a track over the illegal massage parlours, which are operating without the nod of the concerned authorities in violation of the laws of this State.
A couple of incidents occurred in the past, where tourists were solicited and robbed by the touts in the pretext of massage. Herald has been constantly exposing this menace.
Police have also asked the local panchayat to check the illegal spas and massage parlours operating without the trade license and to initiate necessary action to seal the establishments as per Goa Panchayati Raj Act.
