the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) will begin a special summary revision of electoral rolls of Assembly constituencies from September, with January 5, 2017 as the final publication date.
As per the current final voters’ list published by CEO, total 10,84,271 voters, which includes male and female, are eligible to exercise their franchise in the upcoming election.
The Chief of Election Commission Nasim Zaidi is expected to visit the State in September to hold a special meeting with the political parties and to take stock of 2017 elections.
The State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kunal on Saturday held meeting with the representatives of all political parties in the state appraising them on various programmes pertaining to elections. CEO will be undertaking a month long summery revision of electoral rolls from September 15 to October 6, wherein the names of the electorate would be added and deleted from the roll.
Also a special drive will be held on September 18 and October 9 wherein the Booth Level Officers along with party’s booth level agents will conduct the registration process.
The final voters list will be printed on January 5, 2017.
As per the current final list total 24,906 new names have been added while 15,877 names have been deleted from the voters list during the summery revision undertaken between October and December 2015.
Of the total 10,84,271 voters, 5,48,097 are female while 5,36,174 are male voters.
As reported earlier, CEO has also identified nearly 27,000 names for deletion from the electorate, as concept for dual citizenship does not exist in the country.
