MARGAO: Taking serious note of the ongoing first term SSC examinations, a special team of traffic police has been deployed at the feast fair of Our Lady of Rosary Church, at Navelim; besides the South Goa District Collector office has issued guidelines to the fair organisers.
A team of traffic police will be supervising the movement of the traffic between 1.30 pm to 5 pm, during examination hours.
Earlier, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Perpetual Succour Convent High School had requested the District Collector and Navelim panchayat to issue a stay order on the fair or to relocate the fair to avoid hardships to the students answering their SSC first term exams.
However, the panchayat had issued a conditional NOC to the organisers of the fair.
On Wednesday, a day feast being celebrated, a special force of traffic police was noticed at the site, engaged in controlling the traffic movement.
“Excluding the regular traffic management we have deployed extra police at the site from Navelim church to Perpetual Succour Convent High School and they will continue to control the traffic till the exams gets over,” said Gautam Salunke, Police Inspector, and Traffic Cell-Margao.
He said care will be taken so that students do not suffer due to the feast fair.
Egna Cleetus, IAS, Deputy Collector told Herald that guidelines have been issued to the organisers and all measures will be taken in order to avoid hardships for the students due to the feast fair.
“Reply has also been sent to the concerned school management,” she added.
