Special trains to leave for Vailankanni

NEW DELHI, JULY 29 The Indian Railways will run special direct trains from Vasco to Nagapattinam to enable pilgrims from Goa to visit the shrine of Vailankanni during the annual feast from august 24 to September 9.

The Indian Railways will run special direct trains from Vasco to Nagapattinam to enable pilgrims from Goa to visit the shrine of Vailankanni during the annual feast from august 24 to September 9.
According to former Chief Minister and Congress secretary Luizinho Faleiro, Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa, in response to a request made by him, has arranged five special trains from Vasco to Nagapattinam and back to enable devotees from Goa to visit the festival.
Earlier, pilgrims faced a lot of hardship whilst travelling from Goa to Vailankanni, as they had to change trains at Bangalore and Thanjavur to get to Nagapattinam, or arrange a special vehicle to drive all the way there.
Vasco to Nagapattinam Train No: 0675 will ply weekly on August 23 , August 30, September 6 , September and 13 , September 20, leaving Vasco-da-Gama at 19.45 hours and arriving at Nagapattinam at 20.05 hours the next day.
Nagapattinam to Vasco
Train No: 0676 will ply weekly on August 24, August 31, September 7, September 14, and September 21, leaving Nagapattinam at 22.00 hours and arriving at Vasco-da-Gama at 20.30 hours the next day.
