The toll of fatal accidents continues on Goan roads, claiming yet another life in a distressing incident at Guirim. A speeding car lost control and crashed into a coconut tree positioned within the road divider, resulting in a tragic self-accident on Wednesday afternoon. Advocate Joao Patricio D’Souza, a 78-year-old resident of Pilerne, succumbed to the collision.
Witnesses to the incident recounted the harrowing scene. “He was proceeding from Porvorim, lost control, and collided with a coconut tree. We saw him speeding from the signal and coming in full speed; it’s uncertain what could have happened,” expressed a bystander.
Efforts from bystanders were quick as they intervened to free the injured driver from the wreckage, forcibly opening the car door to extract him from within the vehicle. Despite these attempts, the driver suffered severe head injuries due to the impact. He was transported to the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim, where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
