Speeding cargo truck damages seven vehicles at Khandepar; none injured

PONDA: A cargo truck was involved in a horrific accident at Opa-Khandepar junction, where seven vehicles were damaged. The truck rammed into one Eicher truck, a car, another parked truck, besides bikes which were crushed under the heavy vehicle after it fell on its side. Luckily no one was injured.

According to information, the cargo loaded  truck was going from Ponda towards Khandepar.  While overtaking a truck, the driver lost control of the vehicle and dashed  the truck ahead of him which was going towards Usgaon.  Truck fell on an oncoming car,  but luckily the car driver escaped unharmed.  

After hitting the truck, the cargo truck fell on its side on the road.  At that time, three bikes which were parked on the road, were crushed under it.  The owner of the two-wheelers suffered a heavy loss as all the three parked bikes were crushed under the cargo truck in the accident. Beside parked heavy vehicle was also damaged.

The Khandepar junction has become an accident prone junction. Parents fear for their children since, a large number of students stand by the roadside when they wait for buses. Two years ago, a truck rammed into a roadshide hotel damaging it totally. The spot has turned accident prone despite four lane  highway passing in area. The incomplete bridge is one main reason the vehicles comes down through service road below bridge.
