In a shocking incident that unfolded near Mardol, a speeding Mercedes driven by Shripad, also known as Paresh A Sinai Sawardekar, has led to a tragic case of culpable homicide. The driver, who was charged under Section 304 for culpable homicide, as well as for drunken driving and rash and negligent driving under Sections 134 A and B, has been brought to the Mardol Police Station.
Interestingly, this incident has also shed light on a series of unpaid speeding challans associated with the car. The vehicle, owned by Meghana Sawardekar, had accumulated four pending speeding challans, all of which were issued by the Panaji AI cameras.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Bousette Silva, highlighted that the AI cameras had captured Meghana Sawardekar’s vehicle violating speed limits on multiple occasions. The AI system promptly issued challans and sent notifications to the owner’s mobile number. Despite these notifications, the challans remained unpaid.
“It is a standard procedure that once a challan is issued, a notification is sent to the owner’s mobile phone. I am confident that Meghana must have received these notifications regarding the challans,” Silva emphasized.
The incident not only raises concerns about road safety and the importance of adhering to traffic regulations but also underscores the need for timely compliance with legal obligations. As investigations into the tragic incident continue, the unpaid challans serve as a reminder of the collective responsibility to prioritize safety on the roads.
