Goa Sport Minister along with other officials announced that a special committee consisting of Panchayat, MLA, Sports administrators and the locals to oversee and to give advice in discovering new talents from remote villages. He also assured that the government sports complex which is used by the GMR company will be vacated immediately and made available to the locals to use.
On Tuesday Sports Minister Govind Gaude along with Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar, Panchayat body and other officials paid a visit to inspect the works of the vKorgao Sports complex. During his visit, the minister spoke about the complex which is ready to be used and stated that most of the raw talent comes from the village areas.
“The government is for the people, of the people and by the people. We have decided that every complex will consist of a special committee comprising of the local MLA, Sarpanch, sports authorities and the locals wherein advice and suggestion will be taken to maintain the ground. Not only the ground, but the committee will be responsible in giving birth to news players. The main aim of this committee is to make sure that more and more players are created.” He highlighted that in order to build and nourish more players, suggestions for new coaches, sporting equipments and other necessary facilities will be also be taken from this committee.
In the coming two months the ground will be fully completed. The Sarpanch expressed her contentment stating that many people were eagerly waiting for this ground’s completion and within a few weeks of time locals will be able to access this facility to the fullest.
On the other hand, sports minister has assured that the Pernem sports ground which was given on rent by the government to the GMR company for them to utilize, will be immediately vacated. He further said that a letter has already been submitted to the GMR group to evacuate from the area within 6 months of the given time period.
