MAPUSA: Locals and sports lovers have blamed Sports Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar for neglecting cricket ground located at Varkhand.
In 2008, Sports Authority of Goa had laid foundation stone for developing this ground, however, till date no development work has been carried out here.
Locals claimed that taluka level cricket matches are played at the Varkhand ground. Since the ground has not been developed properly, the players have been facing lot of difficulties. The female players are the most affected as there are no toilets and changing room for them.
“This ground is completely neglected. Even after laying foundation stone for development of this ground, no development work is carried. The protection wall is broken; garbage is dumped all around the ground and the jogging track is not maintained,” a local Jitendra Goankar said.
