CALANGUTE: Calangute Sarpanch Geeta Parab on Wednesday inaugurated the renovated offices of the Electricity department, Calangute and the Talathi.
Parab inaugurated the offices in the presence of Panchas Joseph Sequeira, Vinayak Salgaonkar, Filomena Fernandes, Pascoala Fernandes, Ana Marie D’Souza, Reshma Kalangutkar, Annie Coelho and Jainath Parulekar, St Alex Church, Calangute, parish priest, assistant engineer of Calangute A K Chandran and officials of the Electricity department and the villagers.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Cipriano D’Silva said, “I hope the renovated office of the Electricity department will bring out the best in the officials and staff to provide Calangute villagers stable power supply which is the need of the hour.”
“At times, we have been witnessing frequent power supply cuts in Calangute, but I do not blame the authorities as it is not within their power. However, the need of the hour of having a power sub-station in Calangute is greatly felt and I hope it would be a reality in the years to come.”
“We will always co-operate with Calangute Panchayat on any development like roads, power and water supply which are the basic needs and the panchayat members should not worry whether the villagers will co-operate in its development. The like-minded will always extend their co-operation on developmental issues concerning the village,” added Fr D’Silva.
Expressing thanks on behalf of Calangute Panchayat, Joseph Sequeira said, “We have already initiated the process to set up sub-power station in Calangute and it will take shape in two years. We hope the villagers of Calangute will extend us co-operation in our developmental plans.”
Earlier, Sarpanch Parab welcomed the chief guest Fr D’Silva, while Fr D’Silva later blessed the premises.
