In view of several missing complaints filed every month, the Goa Police will have a separate Missing Persons Squad, under the Women’s police station, Panjim.
The squad will be inaugurated by Home Minister Ravi Naik at Women’s police station tomorrow at 11 am.
According to the Goa police officials the squad will monitor efforts made to trace missing persons in the state of Goa.
After the Mahanand Naik episode came to light, Herald had carried a report showing that on an average in the last few years, around 300 persons go missing every year.
There are no records with the police showing how many of them are traced.
