PONDA: Squall with rain hit to Kundaim and some parts of Ponda and Dharbandora talukas on Thursday evening around 4.30 pm with the local fire stations receiving 16 calls of trees falling on houses. Kundai village was most the hit.
Cement roof sheets of the house of Dattu Naik were blown off by the stormy wind; while branches and tress collapsed on houses of Rama Naik, Yogesh Naik, Chedu Gaude and others at Kundaim causing damage.
Instances of trees crashing on national highway at Khandepar and causing traffic blockade, were also reported.
A tree collapsed on the house of one Vithoba damaging the roof at Khandepar. Trees also collapsed at Bethki, Curti, Dharbandora and Savoiverem. The fire personnel cleared the trees that crashed on roads and houses.
