Srivastava to be SEC, Agarwal advisor to Civil Aviation Dept

PANJIM: The State Cabinet on Friday approved the appointment of R K Srivastava as the new Goa State Election Commissioner. Srivastava, who is currently serving as Chief Secretary, will retire from service this month.

The term of the existing State Election Commissioner Dr M Modassir ends this month. He will be replaced by Srivastava from January 15, 2017.
Parsekar said that the three-month extension granted to Srivastava as Chief Secretary will end this month. “He is a very upright officer. And he loves Goa,” Parsekar said.
The Cabinet also approved the appointment of retired collector N D Agarwal as advisor to the Department of Civil Aviation. Agarwal will assist the department for speedy disposal of compensation cases of farmers, whose lands have been acquired for the Mopa International Airport.
Parsekar said that the number of tenants entitled for compensation is 7869, of which only 618 have claimed compensation. “Of the total affected farmers, only 10 percent have managed to get the compensation, while 90 percent cases are pending due to non-claims or disputes. Funds amounting to Rs 40 crore, towards compensation have been deposited with Economic Development Corporation,” Parsekar said.
He said that the compensation of several affected persons could not be paid due to several reasons like ownership in dispute, non-submission of their inter-se share, in case of deceased their legal heir not able to produce legal documents, etc.
“In order to help people making necessary documentation for placing their claims before SLAO and expedite the disbursal of land acquisition compensation award, Agarwal is appointed as an advisor,” Parsekar said.
