SRS moves magistrate to lift ban on Goa entry

BELGAUM: Sri Rame Sene (SRS) has filed a representation with the north Goa district magistrate objecting to the ban on entry of SRS activists in north Goa.

In its plea, which was filed by advocate  Nagesh T on behalf of SRS on Tuesday, co-ordinator Gangadhar Kulkarni, SRS has also sought either a temporary relief against the ban order or to modify/lift/revoke the order.
Terming the order as arbitrary, oppressive, unreasonable and unduly harsh and not sustainable on the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution, SRS has urged the magistrate to allow its leaders to enter Goa after holding immediate hearing on the representation filed.
The SRS will be forced to approach the High Court for appropriate relief in case of delay in the hearing, the representation stated.
“We have urged north Goa district magistrate to allow us to enter Goa to represent our side and hold a closed-door news conference to voice our opinion. The authorities may listen to our plea and call us to Goa and give an opportunity to listen to our view,” Gangadhar Kulkarni told Herald.
“In case we do not get a response from the authorities, we will be forced to approach the high court,” he added.
Meanwhile, SRS convened a special meeting in Hubli on Wednesday to discuss further course of action against the entry ban imposed by Goa.
