PANJIM: As many as 20,806 students will appear for the SSC examination that begins from Friday in 26 centres. The total number of students is, however, less compared to the over 21,000 who answered the Class X Goa Board exams last year. Amongst the students, 10,419 are boys and 10,387 are girls.
Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has ensured water-tight security at all examination centres to thwart any attempt of cheating by the students.
Board Chairman J Rebello said the main examination will be held till April 12 while the vocational subjects such as home vegetable gardening, word processing, bakery and confectionary, tailoring and cutting, floriculture, desk top publishing and drawing and painting will be held till April 20. The results are expected by May-end.
The Board recently carried out the HSSC examination, and these results are likely to be announced in the second week of May. Meanwhile, the Goa Common Entrance Test will be conducted on May 10-11.
